OUR MISSION
We seek to cultivate wisdom and virtue by nourishing the child's soul with truth, goodness, and beauty so that, in Christ, the student is enabled to better know, glorify, and enjoy God. We also strive to assist families in achieving meaningful and lasting success in their home education program by using a classical model in a Christian community. Libertas Classical Community is a Christ-centered group that exists to provide accountability, community, and excellence in educating our children.
OUR MODEL
Libertas brings students together one or two days each week for shared instruction, discussion, accountability, enrichment, and community. This model allows time during the week for both classroom instruction in community and parent-led home instruction.
OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
We strive to operate as a servant of the family under the assumption that the education of young people is the responsibility of parents and the immediate family rather than the responsibility of the State. Our job as instructors and administrators is to recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for the education of their children and to be prepared to assist them in that task.
OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
All are co-equal, pre-existent, and eternally omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient.
We believe that Jesus Christ, co-existent with the Father and the Holy Spirit, was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary—becoming truly God and truly man. He lived a sinless life and died a substitutionary death, paying for the sins of mankind—past, present, and future. He was resurrected from the dead, conquering sin, hell, death, and the grave once and for all, and offers salvation to all who repent and trust in His shed blood for the remission of sin.
We believe that Jesus Christ ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He serves as our Advocate until the day He returns in triumph to claim His bride, the Church. He will judge the living and the dead, appointing the redeemed to eternal life and the lost to eternal separation from God in hell.
We believe in the Holy Spirit as the Indweller of every born-again believer. He is the Comforter, Teacher, and Giver of gifts, responsible for the regeneration of the believer and for the ongoing work of sanctification, conforming believers to the image of Christ.
We believe that man was created in the image of God and is the crown of His creation. However, since Adam’s disobedience in the garden, all mankind is born with a sinful nature and a will inclined toward sin. Humanity is utterly lost and without hope of restored fellowship with God apart from receiving Christ’s blood atonement as the only sufficient sacrifice for sin. This salvation is freely offered to all who receive Christ by grace through faith.
We believe that the sixty-six books of the Bible are wholly inerrant, inspired by God, and divinely revealed to man. All that is necessary for faith, life, and conduct is found in Holy Scripture.
